đ„ BAM!
I scroll past most horse podcasts, but a documentary about equestrian scandals made me stop and realise why I can never stop writing about the sport I both love and go crazy over.
I am a total podoholic. I listen to podcasts every day when driving for work, but rarely about horses and equestrian sports. The reason for this is that they are usually so poorly produced, at least when it comes down to the sound, that I really canât stand it.
Thatâs why I was a little more than happy when I saw the national radio [not English] had made a documentary about equestrian sports. The headline Whipped horses and blue tongues - equestrian scandals and shooting stars felt a bit like click bait but bring it on!
Somewhere halfway through I suddenly realised why over the years I have often found myself sitting and writing and tinkering about horses and equestrian sports.
It is because of scandals like these, and the total lack of self-awareness and insight into my own sport that triggers me.
One of the âexpertsâ who got to speak talked about online haters, and online trolling, and that we need to change our attitude [DUH] and start reconstructing equestrian sports from above.
Starting with the FEI and then moving down the ranks.
Totally jaw dropping! Cause when ever you build something you start from the GROUND and work your way up!!!!
The lack of basic horse sense and horse knowledge is exactly what put our sport in the shit from the very beginning!
The other expert talked nonsense and almost made me run off the road when she briefly questioned the age of that film that brought down Charlotte Dujardin.
Fact is, that if I had film of the FEI official I know off who whips her horses striped crosswise when she competes, I would have posted within a week, a day, or ten years later if it would have made her blocked out as an FEI official for eternity. One do what one has to do right?
But back to Dujardin, for yours truly the issue is not about the age of the film, or the disgusting giggling of the person, who I assume was the one, who filmed it.
The question you should probably ask is, do you seriously buy the story that this was the first time Charlotte Dujardin behaved like this towards a horse?
In my eyes, based on years of hanging around horses and horses events for most if my life this was more of a habit than a spare of the moment kind of thing.
And this is when I realised that writing about horses and equestrian sports is a habit for me, a quest, even a calling if youâd like. So hello and welcome to join me and letâs horse around together. This is the first official post of Horzing Around.
Even so Iâve been around for a long time.
You see, anything else written before this post, are posts imported from another venture. A venture that kind of died the same day I had the non pleasure of being threatened by some crazy militant vegans on a social network.
Being viciously trolled online some years back, made those threats hit really hard.
But thing is, I believe in freedom of speech. I also believe in freedom of opinion.
Last not but least I believe in the freedom of the press.
So screw that particular pack of vegans, Iâm pretty sure they donât rule the world nor all the other vegans out there. So why donât we just work together and make the world a better place for all living creatures
